It was Thanksgiving afternoon 2004. We drove very far until our cars were stuck. We deserted them when a group of locals picked us up on motorcycles. They took us to a fishing village where we got into a big longtail boat and travelled through the Tonle Sap Lake. We docked at a very remote village called Kom Pong Plok. We had dollar donations from Americans plus school paper and breads. The village was enormous with side "streets" shooting off of the central part. The people were so welcoming. The children were so joyful! It was an amazing Thanksgiving day...for many people... | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Because of the devastating war with the Khmer Rouge for decades in Cambodia, it was very rare to see monks in the country. The monks are now free to be ordained and to serve their people... |
