Research /Conservation Expeditions
to the Niagara Escarpment World Biosphere Reserve (ie. Bruce Trail)

Join us as we explore the ruggedly beautiful Bruce Trail - an international World Biosphere Reserve and document the flora and fauna species for the seventh spectacular season! Our mission is to teach you the skills necessary to identify rare or significant species as you experience the wilderness environment. The Bruce Trail is an 800 kilometer path that stretches from Tobermory to Niagara Falls, Ontario. So far, we have completed 215 kilometers and hiked 267 000 steps to complete the Bruce Peninsula sections. Your contribution to this endeavour will be noted as a significant stride toward the trail's natural history as we continue hiking cataloguing flora and fauna in search of Ontario's species at risk and adding to our publication currently available called - "A Hiker's guide to the flora and fauna of the Niagara Escarpment World Biosphere Reserve: Tobermory to Owen Sound, Ontario". Please be advised that you must take an EARTHQUEST Biological Field School General FAT Course first before you can qualify for this program, if applying to the General FAT Program. The FAT courses are intended to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to be able to recognize and inventory the flora and fauna of the Bruce Trail system. Without it you may experience difficulty. Also, the Bruce Trail Project mini course is the prerequisite to being awarded a Bruce Trail Project internship.
