The applicant has applied to an EARTHQUEST FAT Program, project, program or Expedition. Since 1996 EARTHQUEST has offered Research/Conservation Expeditions to study endangered, threatened, vulnerable or significant species and/or their habitats. For example, from 1996-98 we conducted Expeditions to Panama to study the endangered Panamanian tamarin monkey(Saguinus geoffroyi). We have expanded our Expeditions, programs and projects to include other destinations in Latin America as well as on the homefront. We have also developed the uniquely designed Field Assistant Training (FAT) Program. During Expeditions, projects, and programs participants may do a number of activities related to ongoing research efforts such as collecting data on primate, bird and plant populations, conducting census/survey work, or contributing in some way to existing scientific research.

Our Expeditions, programs and projects are considered noteworthy by many. Dr. Jane Goodall is quoted as saying "It's great! Congratulations on all you are doing" about our Panama Expeditions. Numerous publications of our work have been contributed to the internet, various journals, and popular magazines. Some of our projects have been aired on national television such as an 8 minute documentary on the Panama project, which was aired on Wild Things in January, 1999.
