The talk This is the talk i did for school, it explains T2 (Tribes 2) fully |

Tribes2 Talk Hello. Today I am going to do my talk on a computer game called Tribes2. Tribes2 is the sequel to the 1999 online game of the year - Startseige:Tribes. Tribes1 was and still is a multi-player breakthrough. Although Tribes1 was a brilliant game, there was many problems with it. I.e. you had to play it online, and the vehicles were nothing to be proud of. Tribes 2 came along and solved most of these problems. In Tribes2 there was a whole range of bot, from hard to easy, from talkative to quiet. Tribes 2 brought the introduction of many new and brilliant vehicles, like the Shrike. The Shrike allows you to travel up to 300MPH and the manoeuvrability is so good, that if you good at driving, you can do a barrel roll. Although this is only one game, within it there are many different types of game play within it. Most of the games are self-explanatory, like capture the flag. There are 8 Different types of game, Bounty, capture and hold, capture the flag, deathmatch, hunters, team hunters, rabbit and siege. Each of these games has about 10 different worlds that you can play on. The worlds come in all weathers and in different climates. You can play on ice worlds and rainforests and lots, lots more. On the different worlds there can be fog rain and snow, that can hinder your vision and manoeuvrability. You can also have water worlds, where all there is, is water as far as the eye can see. Now I'm going to talk about the game play. One feature that everybody has is a jetpack. It allows you to fly to high places and to places you couldn't get to by walking. Also you can pick up speed by "ski-ing" downhill, skiing uses micro-bursts of energy to skim you across the ground. In addition, some weapons use the jetpack's energy. Like the Blaster. The advantage of using energy to power your weapon is that you have unlimited supply, but the disadvantage is that you cant move much when you are firing. One great weapon that uses energy is the sniper rifle, it can kill a light armoured person in about 1 shot to the head. Ill just quickly name al the weapons and go in depth on one or two. Chain gun, Plasma cannon, Spinfuser, Grenade Launcher, Electron Flux Gun (ELF), Mortar, Targeting Laser, Missile Launcher and there are also different types of grenades which I'm not going to go into at the moment. The Electron Flux Gun (ELF) drains energy from the target, thus rendering it immobile. The Spinfuser is the bread and butter weapon. The mortar can fire high explosive shells across long distances. One other thing that everyone has is a pack. There are many types of pack, and because I'm sure you are all bored by now I won't go into detail. The packs are Sensor Jammer Pack, Cloaking Pack, Energy Pack, Repair Pack, Ammo Pack, and the Shield Pack. To make this talk short enough I have had to cut down on a lot of things. There was many things that I haven't mentioned like turrets and gone in depth on the six vehicles. And before I finish I want to read an extract from a review. - "Tribes 2 isn't for everyone. This game is difficult. There are a host of controls to configure and remember, and a lot of these servers are not very receptive to newbies. The game does however have a great training mode where you can learn the basics of gameplay, how to chat with one another and most importantly, how to properly use your jetpack. Tribes 2 is not only about being able to shoot accurately; it's also about moving effectively in battle. For those who are apprehensive about going online, new in Tribes 2 is the addition of bots. Players can have solo games with up to 16 bots at once. But to truly experience Tribes 2 the way it was intended to be played, is to play it online." |
