WISHLIFT - Lifting Weights to Lift Kids Spirits
What was it?
The WISHLIFT was a fundraiser held in Evansville, IN on Nov 11th, 2000 to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Spearheaded by Bill Gobin (Montel Williams Challenge transformation winner) and Shiloh London, the WISHLIFT event featured several individuals and organizations intimately connected with the sports/fitness and supplement industry offering their support and expertise.

BodyLogix and EAS both contributed supplements to the event participants. What was especially nice to see was the camaraderie between all the participants and companies involved. Those that were there included 1997 EAS Physique Transformation Champions Porter Freeman and Drew Avery (BodyLogix spokesperson), 1998 EAS Physique Transformation Champions Scott Nelson (now BodyLogix spokesperson), Vickie Mangum, and Harry "Hank" Johnson (also representing BodyLogix), and Tom "Anthony" Roehl (1999 inaugural BodyLogix Transformation Challenge runner-up and champion in anyone's eyes).

These were some of the more well-known individuals (amongst many others) present offering their support AND hard work. Why hard work? Because, you see, the WISHLIFT goal was to lift 500,000 pounds of solid iron in one day! This was a pretty loft goal to say the least! However, when you put together people of the caliber already mentioned, plus dozens of other enthusiastic individuals willing to push their bodies, hearts, and souls into a worthy cause of providing terminally sick children with their final wishes on this precious earth, almost anything can be accomplished...and it was!  How does 2,642,025 pounds lifted sound!! And this with just a little over 30 individuals! Very impressive if you ask me.
Now on to the heart of why we were all there...to raise funds to provide these kids with their wishes. An original goal of $10,000 was put up by the event founder Bill Gobin. And once again everyone came through with flying colors to the tune of $15,460! A special thanks really needs to go out to Scott Nelson who single-handedly raised a little over $3,000! Way to go Scott!
The local media folks were on hand to capture the event and helped promote it throughout the preceding week. All-in-all a rousingly successful day for everyone involved. So successful in fact that the WISHLIFT may have taken on a life of its own. Already, plans are in work to run the event next year in Sacramento, CA. BodyLogix and EAS both plan to be big supporters to help assure the gems of this earth, our children who have found themselves in this unfortunate situation, have as one of their final memories their dreams and wishes fulfilled. I can't think of a more noble cause.
And this is what it's all about - helping those that we have the ability to help. I want to thank everyone that found a way to contribute. And with the awareness created this year, hopefully more can help with future events.
