“Left Jes’! Left!” Aylani roared over the wind. They were FLYING! The green folded her wings and turned sharply, narrowly missing a collision with a fellow weyrling.
The Weyrlingmastter is going to yell about this, isn’t he? Jeschuteth asked her rider.
“I don’t doubt it – but who will he be yelling at?” Aylani returned.
The dragon shrugged beneath her, then turned to go back to the weyr. Ay? When can we go visit Shianna and Kayrizoth? I want to see him again.
Aylani was startled. Sure, she missed Shianna too, but… “Jes’? Are you thinking about MATING?”
Yes; Firestone training will begin soon, and we must decide whether I lay a clutch before I chew and flame. Jeschuteth said as she navigated to land.
The Weyrlingmaster waas indeed annoyed, and strode over to berate them as soon as they landed. When he saw the expression on Aylani’s face, he left that. “What’s wrong, Weyrling?”
“Jes’ has been thinking about her first mating flight.” Aylani admitted shamelessly.
“Is that why you weren’t paying attention up there?” The Weyrlingmaster asked.
Jeschuteth bowed her head, and Aylani nodded.
“Well, let’s get this settled right away then, so there won’t be any more near mid-air collisions (with you two.)” the Weyrlingmaster said. Aylani nodded. “So, do you want to have a clutch?” he asked.
Yes. Jeschuteth said, and Aylani conveyed it.
“Great. Just sign Jes’ up when she starts to get proddy, and they you can learn ‘stone when her babies do. How’s that sound?”
Sounds good to me. Jeschuteth rumbled.
“Great, Weyrlingmaster. We’ll do that. Thanks!”

Here I come! Get outta my way! Jeschuteth roared, diving toward the lake. The other dragons scattered as the green neared. She dove in with a great splash that sent great waves rolling up onto the shore.
“Hey Jes’! You act like you own this lake!” Aylani yelled from the shore.
I do own this lake, Ay! the green crowed triumphantly.
“Gee Aylani, is you green proddy or what?” B’ari laughed, stating the obvious for his own amusement.
“Very.” Aylani said, “She’s on the flight list as of yesterday morning.”
Good. Jes’ said, paddling around the lake. And I’ve already picked out my favorite.
“Jes’, nobody’s signed up yet.”
Don’t worry, Ay. They won’t let us down. The green said confidently. Like any other than him is worthy of me…
