In the past few sevendays, the chestnut brown dragon had proved his worth to Ryslen Weyr, executing breathtaking dives and graceful banked curves to get into and out of spaces a smaller dragon wouldn’t dare. Already, they’d rescued two from perishing by snatching them back from the jaws of death. The brown gracefully landed, and his dark-bronze skinned rider slid down. A weyrbrat, Jainly was running past on some errand, and skid to a halt in front of the brown. "Rider Im’mel," he said, "J’kosh wants to see you as soon as possible." Im’mel nodded, and patted Nadornth’s flank. "Go get some sun, you big lug, and I’ll scrub you down after I meet with the Weyrleader." he said, and started towards J’kosh’s office.
Good Luck. Nadornth said as he sprang skyward and settled shortly on his ledge. Im’mel could feel the warm sunlight on his dragon’s hide. Im’mel whistled absently as he walked, and was rewarded with a sharp bark as Sammir raced to catch up to him. Im’mel knelt and scratched his old herding canine between the ears. Tundir growled playfully, enjoying the attention. "C’mon Tundir, let’s go see what the Weyrleader wants." he said to the canine. J’kosh was in his office, and Weyrwoman Tiyanni was with him. "Ah, Im’mel, there you are." the auburn-haired Weyrleader said, waving him in pleasantly. "Please, have a seat." J’kosh and Tiyanni were sitting together on a small sofa, so Im’mel sat down in one of the chairs in that informal grouping. Tundir leaned heavily against her master’s knees, tail wagging in contentment. "We’ve heard about your heroics, Im’mel." Tiyanni said, and J’kosh nodded, continuing where the Weyrwoman left off. "You’ve done quite a bit for Ryslen since you came here from Talor Cliff, and we’re proud of you." he said. "Don’t mention it, Weyrwoman, Weyrleader. It’s my duty." Im’mel said, oddly sincere for a brownrider. (Brownriders can be so narcissistic at times...) Tiyanni got up suddenly, causing Im’mel to worry that he’d offended her. "That’s what we were waiting to hear, Im’mel." J’kosh said, and within a moment, Tiyanni came to his side. Im’mel stood, much to Tundir’s displeasure, rather than insult the Weyr’s most important Riders by staying seated. "Im’mel, in recognition of your hard work, dedication, and daring, we hereby promote you to wingleader." J’kosh said, and Tiyanni stepped forward, attaching a pin to his collar--Ryslen’s Wingleader Insignia. The pin was a silver triangle, set with a deep red ruby at the top point, and two small jet black stones at the bottom points. "I am deeply honored, J’kosh, Tiyanni." he said. "And we’re honored to have as fine a rider as you at our Weyr." Tiyanni said. Im’mel grinned. "So who is in my wing?" he asked, genuinely curious. "Anyone you want." J’kosh responded. "You have six months from today to assemble your wing."
