As the desire to eat and sleep waned, her fellows were more and more likely to get up and leave while she slept.
One particularly drizzly day, it was green Unath who had no desire to sleep, and decided to get her rider, K'mer, from the dining hall.
She moseyed out of the Weyrling barracks, striding past Sammir and Fligg. The yellow canine lifted her head. One of the flock was leaving.
AAAAH! THEY'RE CHASING ME! the little green's voice suddenly burst into K'mer's mind. He dropped his spoon into the soup with a splash. Someone giggled.
Chase them back, Unath. Don't let them pick on you for being little. the lad bespoke his dragon.
A short while later, an older rider walked in laughing hysterically. "You will not believe this!" he said to noone in particular. "Some green weyrling is chasing a pair of canines around the bowl!" K'mer's face whent stark white.
The weyrlings all got up to go see. Sure enough, Unath was running on all fours after the canines, flapping her wings and trumpeting. Sammir and Fligg ran for the kennel. K'mer and K'hi ran interception -- K'mer to catch his errant dragonet, and K'hi to comfort the paniced canines. Woolies didn't ever chase the herding canines...
Did I do something wrong? Unah asked, her eyes shot yellow in worry.
"No," K'mer said, hugging his little dragon around her neck. "I didn't know it was Sammir and Fligg chasing you, or I wouldn't have told you to chase, love." Unath calmed down a little.
"Maybe next time they will cuddle up and sleep with you." K'mer said. "K'hi says Im'mel's herding canine used to love to snuggle with Nadornth..."
