As we all know, this is the International Year of the Volunteer. What sport should be more
deserving than Orienteering where Volunteers are the backbone of it's existence.
Southern Highlands and Illawarra/Kareelah Clubs put in a submission explaining the role of
volunteers in organising a national event in a country town. They were lucky enough to receive a sum of money
to enable them to reward the efforts of the dozens of people who put in many, many hours to make a huge event happen.
So, when you see one of those bright yellow 'Volunteer" T-shirts, or later, one of the organisers
T-shirts, just remember the role of volunteers in all avenues of our sport.
