EASTERN SHORE MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION

7TH ANNUAL ATOM/PEE WEE HOUSE TOURNAMENT

APRIL 8-14, 2002

NOTICE TO ALL COACHES

The 2002 Tournament Committee would like to welcome back past teams and all new teams to this year’s tournament. We hope all players, coaches, parents and fans will have an exciting time over the next few days.

This year, the committee has decided it would be a good idea to have an All Around Player Award. This award will be in addition to the most sportsmanlike award for each game and the individual player awards given to all players. The coaches will be responsible for choosing one of their players to receive this award; coaches should consider the following when choosing a player:

-Does the player show a desire to work as a team -Does the player try to rally his teammates

-Is the player a good sport -Is this a player that doesn’t give up easily

-How well does this player get along with the rest of his teammates as a whole

This player does not necessarily have to be a player that would stand out as being one of the more skillful players; rather he/she should be a well-rounded player and member of your team.

Coaches are asked to fill out the following and turn in to the timekeeper before the presentation of medals at the end of their FIFTH GAME played.

Team All Round Player Jersey Number

Coaches are asked to choose a MOST VALUABLE DEFENCEMAN and turn it into the timekeeper before the presentations of the medals at the end of their FIFTH GAME played.

Team Most valuable Defenceman Jersey Number

For the GOLD MEDAL TEAMS in this tournament there will be a MOST VALUABLE PLAYER AWARD. Coaches are asked to keep in mind throughout the tournament a player that would be chosen for this award. The player will receive a 50.00 certificate for Hockey School. Coaches will be asked for the player’s name at the time of the gold metal handouts.

Coaches and Team Members are asked to nominate a MOST SPORTSMANLIKE TEAM; however, you are not allowed to nominate your own team. The team with the most nominations will win a PIZZA PARTY compliments of PIZZA DELIGHT. Coaches are asked to turn in this nomination to the timekeeper at the end of their FOURTH GAME. In choosing this team try to take into consideration the coaches and players and how they react to referee calls, how the players react to opposing players and if good sportsmanship is shown no matter the outcome of the game.
