First of all..Kian, Mark and Shane were in a band called IOU.with two other guys.. then Shane's mom contacted Louis Walsh who also managed BOYZONE. Louis was too busy at that time but because of their tremendous talent..he had to give in . Mean while Bryan was in a band called Cartel which was formed in DEc 97. When Louis conducted auditions to look for other members, Bryan gave the audition and was chosen. Finally the fifth member turned out to be Nicky from Dublin. When RONAN KEATING of BOYZONE was introduced to these talanted lads he decided to co-manage the band HIMSELF!! They were initially called WESTSIDE..but since there was an another band with the same name ...so they changed it to WESTLIFE..thus the GREATEST BOYBAND OF ALL TIMES came into being on 2nd JULY.1998.
