"Kenpo Karate has come to me at a time in my life when it no longer was a question of ‘does it make sense for me to take it?’. Rather, it didn’t make sense not to take it. At 42 years of age, I had always had a fascination with the martial arts. I had seen all of Bruce Lee’s movies, as well as those who never held a candle to him, and always wished that I could do those things the ‘Karate Guys’ could do. Well, I still can’t do those things (Yet); but having just reached Orange belt, I am in better shape than I have been in 20 years. I have proved to myself that giving in to the instruction and tutelage of the right person and then practice, practice, practice…I can learn, improve, get in shape, and hopefully (and I hope I don’t have to) defend myself or my family should I ever be put in an unavoidable situation of having to.
The benefits, however, were greater than just learning Kenpo Karate. The sense of accomplishment, the comradery of like-minded individuals, and the wonderful friendships that have come about, have made this journey (and it is a journey) extremely worthwhile. I recommend Kenpo Karate (AKKI) to all who would like to be in better physical condition, socialize, learn, grow, and overall add a fascinating chapter to their life.
