Eastside Kenpo Karate is affiliated with the American Kenpo Karate International (AKKI) whose founder is Paul Mills, 9th Degree Black Belt. Kenpo Karate is an awesome martial art and is the best around. It teaches that a student who is environmentally aware of their surroundings is a student that can avoid most trouble. It teaches that you must use your head as well as your body. You choose when it is necessary to fight and when it’s prudent to walk away from a fight. It teaches respect and self-discipline. Kenpo Karate is a progressive system of time proven techniques and principles that have been passed down for centuries. Kenpo has evolved and has adapted through the years to meet today’s challenges. Our environment is constantly changing and we must be ready to change with it. Kenpo is an effective street fighting style of Karate. With Kenpo, you choose the weapons that you will use. For instance, you wouldn’t fight your brother-in-law the same way you’d fight a robber. Kenpo moves are often compared to lightning because the student’s moves are lightning fast, quick and precise. Its techniques are compared to tornadic activity because they can be devastating and destructive. Kenpo uses both circular and linear movement. It uses the best information available. Another great aspect of Kenpo Karate is that Kenpo is designed to help the student right where they are in life. Kenpo should always be for the student, never student for Kenpo. I have some students who are in their 40’s and are not as flexible as a 20 year old. I would never expect them to reach the same flexibility that a younger student might achieve. Kenpo Karate is a practical street fighting style of martial art that you would want to use when your life depended on it. Kenpo Karate’s focus is on self-defense not on winning trophies at tournaments. Eastside Kenpo Karate doesn’t "give out" belts-it makes you earn them. Eastside Kenpo Karate can teach you the moves necessary to save your life.
