WHO OWNS EASYJET? The first easyjet flight took-off on 10th October 1995, the inaugeral route was from London Luton to Glasgow. The second route (Luton to Edinburgh) took-off on 15th October 1995 just five days later. In the beginning, these routes were managed by a fleet of only two Boeing 737-200 aircraft untill April 1996 when Easyjet takes it's first wholly owned aircraft a boeing 737-300, (the previous two had been leased). The airline is owned by Stelios Haji-loannou, a Greek buisiness man having being brought up wealthy with his parents owning the Greek shipping line Stelminar Tankers. He decided to break away and start his own buisiness and the actual idea came from when he was on a flight from his home in Athens to his new home in londn, somebody told him that in europe we need cheap budget no-frills airlines like the ones in America to transport us at a minimal price. He then took these ideas onboard and that was where the first idea for easyjet came about. This was a gamble that payed-off and now he owns the entire easy group, easymoney.com, the online bank. easyrentacar.com, the budget car-hire company. easyeverything.com, the worlds biggest internet cafe's and easyvalue.com, the online site where you can search for the cheapest items. However allthese ventures have one thing in common apart from all beingon the internet they all give the consumer the best value for money. |
