MALAYSIAN HUMAN RIGHTS PRAYER

Almighty God, we give You glory and thanks for the precious gift of our lives. We pray today that we may be mindful that You have created the whole of humankind free with equal dignity and rights, without any distinction or discrimination.

We pray that we in Malaysia may more fully appreciate that human rights and justice are integral parts of peace, and that there can be no peace without observance of human rights.

We pray, Lord to gives us the strength and courage to overcome FEAR and to be truly the Salt of the Earth and the Light of the World in standing up for the promotion of human rights, justice and peace in Malaysia.

Lord, in particular, we pray for the leaders of our Government, that they will be transformed to allow greater freedom of expression, freedom of assembly and freedom of information in Malaysia, and that they will act to eliminate corrupt practices in Government and in all sectors of society.

We pray for the judiciary and the courts in Malaysia that they will sit and pass judgment based on principles of truth, justice and human rights, and not be swayed by motives of self interest.

We pray for the police that they may understand their role as enforcers of the law, and that in carrying out their duties that they do it professionally and cleanly, without resorting to unnecessary violence, the taking of bribes or pursuing other self interests.

Lord, we pray for our public officials, that they realize that they are to serve the public and not themselves.

Lord, we also pray that each one of us has the courage to speak up and ACT when we see abuses of human rights in our work-place, our community, our parish, our BEC and in our family.

Lord, help us to realize our purpose and mission….in building your Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Lord, we are weak, and without YOU we can do nothing – give us, Lord, the strength to truly be the Salt of the Earth and the Light of the World as You want us to be.
