Another good transfer by Hong Kong Legends. I didn't see any artefacts or smearing. Although they have cleaned up the original print, there are still instances of white dots and speckles. Every print of AOG I've seen has a dark tint to it and this is no different, so you might have to turn your brightness/contrast up.
Audio: 7/10 (for Cantonese audio). 0/10 (for English dub).
Cantonese audio is very good and in synch. The English dub is absolute fucking shit. This is an entirely different English dub to the dub present on the VPD video release of Armour of God. On the original English dub the Alan Tam song, 'Friends' is sung in English and a different song is played during the end credits (sung in English by Jackie himself). Both are absent from the new dub. I'm not positive but the Cantonese 5.1 mix could be the same mix as featured on the Megastar AOG release (there's a little Megastar logo on the back of the dvd sleeve).
Extras: 8/10
As usual HKL do a stellar job of providing interesting extras. The subtitles are clear (in white) and appear in the lower widescreen bar. The animated biography (complete with voiceover) is a nice touch but hardly something you'll sit through more than once. The UK trailer is similar to domestic trailers Tai Seng produce and just as lame. The photo gallery features many stills from the film (at least 25) however I think the photos are far too small. Both interviews are very interesting. Jackie's interview focuses on his fight with the 'amazon' women at the end of AOG. Very interesting though I had to turn the volume right up to hear JC clearly. English subtitles would have also helped since Jackie's English isn't that great. Willie Chan talks about the infamous AOG stunt that went wrong. His English is fluent.
Overall: 7/10
You may think I'm barmy but the new English dub really pissed me off. Megastar have recently released Wheels on Meals with an added (original) English soundtrack so perhaps in the future they will re-release AOG complete with the old dub. Anyway English dubbing aside this dvd is a worthwhile purchase with good picture, (Cantonese) audio and some extras. I do however have my doubts that this is the definitive dvd version of AOG.
