This (I presume) is the same DVD which was also available in a limited collectors edition box complete with Bruce Lee Coasters (Here, have a drink on Bruce Lee). Strange gift and the fact that the box was extremely overpriced by those guys in London's Chinatown put me off straight away. Funnily enough even when they released the DVD on its own without nice box and coasters it was still ridiculously overpriced. I got a friend to buy it from HK.

Picture

Widescreen. Very nice transfer. Clear and sharp. No artefacting or pixelisation. However the master print isn't in brilliant shape so there are quite a few speckles around. Layer change is noticeable but is at a non-vital part of the film.

Sound

Very nice, though again it features 5.1 mixes that don't really sound right. Dolby 2.0 would have been sufficient. English dub is a nice addition since it's actually pretty good. Audio Commentary by Bey Logan is excellent - not a surprise considering he is one of, if not the, most knowledgeable person about HK cinema today. Can't comment on Donnie Yen's commentary because I don't understand Cantonese, but from just listening to his voice, I don't think it's very easy on the ears.

Extras

Audio Commentaries aside, the trailer for Fist and the other Bruce Lee films are included, as are three 'unseen' clips from Game of Death. They are in very good condition and show the end fights as Bruce planned them. However there are actually only two unseen clips since the last clip is of Kareem Abdul Jabbar fighting Bruce, in a scene which is present in all prints of Game of death. What does ruin the bonus scenes are the terrible videogame intros (use of Round 1 etc...) and the pretty inept score (no soundtrack available for the 'lost' scenes I presume).

Overall

The greatest Bruce Lee film is now available on a half-decent disc. Other DVDs of Fist just don't match up to this one (from what I've heard) so if you're a Bruce Lee fan buy it now!

Note: But not for a ridiculous £30 - £35 that they're charging in London.
