In countries such as England, the hot water is often supplied at a low pressure. A venturi system using cold water at high pressure is needed to build up the pressure in the water line. In a mishap, if the cold water supply was cut off, there is risk of a scalding accident. To prevent such a risk, an anti-scald venturi utilizing a Shape Memory Spring has been developed.
