History of The Pittsburg Battery -
The Pittsburg Battery was organized in October 1861 as a part of the Pennsylvainia Light Artillery under the Command of Captain
Robert B. Hampton. The unit was assigned to the Army of the Potomic
under the command of Major General Banks. The battery was also assigned to
Twelfth Corps under the command of General Slocum After taking heavy losses
the battery was combined with Thompson's Battery 'C' .
The Pittsburg Battery was also known by the following names:
Hampton's Battery 'F'
(most common name used as the founding
commander was Captain Robert Hampton)

( During the war the battery suffered severe losses and
