Nissan is the first month and has the issa root in it, or from another perspective, a variant or a shortened form of the name of isana. Issa and Isana are both names of Shiva.

The Theosophical Glossary on the net states that Maha Kala in Sanskrit mean "Great Time". Mahakala is a name of Siva as the "Destroyer", and of Vishnu as the "Preserver".
