INFORMATION

Earthbound Zero is the name for the ROM of Earthbound(NES). The reason it's called zero is because the SNES version of Earthbound is really a sequel(Mother 2). So when the ROM producers put out the ROM they renamed Earthbound(NES) to Earthbound Zero to avoid confusion.

The game is only avialable to one person(that we know of) in prototype cartridge form, it was sold to this person on E-Bay or something by the original holder of the cart. To have this ROM produced Neo Demi Force(the ROM creators) had to pay over $400 American for the cart to the orginal owner, to have the cart sent to them so they could dump(tech term, look it up) it. The project hit a few snags as the game locked up in a few spots and showed a warning screen, these screens where hacked out of the ROM.

The reason the reason the game is only avialable like this is because Nintendo, who was going to release EarthBound(NES) in '91 or '92 or so(in North America), decided for some reason not to release this game outside of Japan. Probably because, with Earthbound(SNES) on the horizon, it wouldn't have be worth it to them, but the true answer is still unknown to this day, in fact not many people who work at Nintendo even know about the NES version of Earthbound. This was the history of Earthbound Zero ROM.
