Welcome to Corrie's Wonderful World of Mancala

Mancala board

Hello! My name is Corrie and I wrote this page to explain how to play mancala. I first learned about the game Mancala from a friend on New Years 1999. The first time I played the game my friend beat me, the second time I beat him. Since then my whole family have been Mancala players even the five year old.

The rules are pretty simple. Hears what you need if you don't have a Mancala board. First you will need twelve little cups, then two big cups. Place the little cups in two ecqual lines right next two each other. On each end of the two lines place the two big cups. You have your Mancala board. Next you will need your Mancala beads. My familys Mancala game we have little glass beads that you can by at Walmart, but you can use almost anything: pennys, legos, pen caps, small seashells, barbie shoes with no match. You put four Mancala beads in each of the small cups.

The point of the game is to get all the bead you can into the big cup you have. Play proceads in a clock wise direction around the board. There are three ways to get beads in your mancala. You must drop beads in each cup as you pass. If your last bead ends up in your Mancala, the big cup at the very end of one side then you may go again or if your cup is empty but the one opposite is ful and your last bead ends up in your empty cup then your last bead and the beads from the opposite cup go in your Mancala and you may go agian. The game ends when someone runs out of beads on their side of the board. If the other person runs out of beads and you still have beads on your side you may put those beads in your Mancala.

I hope these instructions were clear enough so that you are able to play. Have fun playing.
