There was once a goddess of long ago that people never talked about. Her name was Orion, Goddes of the animals and winged creatures. Her symbol is the hawk, and she lived up on Mt. Olympus. She was a caring and docile goddess. She cared for all the animals on the earth and on Mt. Olympus. She was also very beautiful, but never married. It was said that Orion was best friends with Aphrodite. It's was also said that after Aphrodite was "born", Orion took Aphrodite under her care and taught her how to live peacably with the rest of the Olympian gods. Orion and Ares had planned to marry. But as legend goes, Aphrodite lured Ares into a secret love affair.

After Hesphaestus caught Aphrodite and Ares in his web, Orion was outraged to hear about the secret affair. As soon as she heard, she sent her hawk Lyra to deliver this message to Ares:
I am not crying
I am just dying
Your eyes have seen that you let yourself go
But now where will I go?
I will not wallow with wandering eyes
There is no need to stay behind
You have shamed me deeply
So now Ares, I bid you good-bye

Orion was never seen again an Mt. Olympus or on Earth. Some say that she killed herself in grief, others think she went deep into the wilderness to live in solitude. But what really happened is that she took nothing from her house with her but a red scarf and an amber ring. As she left her house she sighed one last time. With that she grew feathers and wings and she slowly transformed into a large hawk. She and Lyra flew off into sunset and were never seen again.

                                                                           the end

Orion loved nature
Aphrodite was truly an amazing and interesting Goddes of the Greek times.
