1998 Social Cup holders, Gwelup Croatia (Prem. Social) outplayed Saints (Div 2)
in very heavy wet conditions at Ashfield Reserve on Wednesday evening (Aug 11th)
to win the right to defend their title.
Perth Saints supported by a very boisterous loud crowd of spectators looked very
sharp with some smart touch football but could not overcome their physically larger
opponents and as the rain continued to fall so did their skill level.
Gwelup Croatia are a fast physical team who keep coming at their opponents and will
ensure a tough final.
WHITE EAGLES SERBIA 5 LYNWOOD COLTS 2
1998 Social Cup Runners up Lynwood Colts looked as though they had the credentials to
challenge for the Cup again this year but were outplayed by an exceptionally talented Serbia.
The wet heavy conditions were used by WE Serbia to advantage as they kept the ball on
the ground forcing Lynwood to chase for most of the first half. Lynwood were disappointing
as they tried to take control by physical overpowering Serbia but were left floundering
by the clever use of the ball by their opponents.
FINAL: so we are set for a very exciting OLA Sports Cover Social Cup Final
between Gwelup Croatia V White Eagles Serbia.
