Antonio Vieira was a catholic priest who lived in the 17th Century both in Portugal and Brazil. But despite its association with a dogmatic doctrine he was already a Christian Rationalist without knowing it. He did not accept everything Catholicism tried to impose on people and that attitude caused him problems with the church. But it was in the Superior Astral that he had an exert influence on Luiz de Mattos and that lead to the codification of Christian Rationalism and the foundation of a doctrine that is neither established on dogmatic teachings nor is based in a "sacred" book like the Bible. Luiz de Mattos , was the founder of Christian Rationalism. Under the helpful fluidic action of some spirits of the Superior Astral, he established the doctrinal principles. From left to right are the fluidic busts of Pinheiro Chagas, Custodio Jose Duarte, Antonio Vieira, Camilo Castelo Branco, Joao de Deus and Luis de Camoes as they were observed by the visual mediums. Luiz Alves Thomaz , developed a practical and efficient action to solidify and make certain the independence of Christian Rationalism and without him Luiz de Mattos might not have been able to found this scientific and philosophic doctrine. Luiz Thomaz was born in Portugal in 1871 having migrated to Brazil in 1885 where as a businessman he amassed one of the greatest fortunes of that South American country. He disincarnated in 1931. Antonio Cottas was appointed by Luiz the Mattos as his successor and following the disincarnation of the founder of Christian Rationalism, Antonio Cottas accordingly took over the direction of the doctrine. He consolidated the great foundations of Christian Rationalism and under his guidance many CR Centres flourished. Antonio Cottas divulged the ideas of Christian Rationalism through letters and the teachings delivered at the public seances in the Redemptor Centre. During his lifetime, Antonio Cottas was awarded approximately fifteen honorary titles at the local, state and national levels (in Brazil). In spite of all these honours, he remained a simple, unaffected individual throughout his life. Antonio Cottas was born in Sirvuzelo - Monte Alegre, Portugal in November 19, 1892. Immigrated to Brazil in 1905, succeeded Luiz de Mattos in 1926 as the President of Christian Rationalism and disincarnated on June 12, 1983. MORE DETAILS

Dr. Humberto Machado Rodrigues,a lawyer by profession, was the successor of Antonio
Cottas when the latter disincarnated in June 12, 1983. Humberto Rodrigues then became the world President of Christian Rationalism whose headquarters is in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since 1983 the current President of CR has lead the expansion of this Philosophic and Scientific doctrine throughout the world and under his direction many centres have opened and our presence in the Internet started.
