Dire Straits.

Originally, my page was ment to be a database about Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler , but after searching the net throughfully I realized that there were some many really cool places about the band. So, I have made up my mind and I have decided to let my project for a time, maybe next holidays (?).

I really love the music they play. They are, undoubtely, the BEST BAND OF THE WORLD , with the permission of the Rolling Stones and U2 :) Their songs made me remember that Iīm still living in here, that Iīm still alive. Their music and the marvellous sound of Mark Knopflerīs guitar lead me to the heaven when Iīm down and out. Iīm not lying if I say that he is the best guitarrist player we have ever known . We should thank God for give him an electric guitar.

• My favourite song is "Sultans of Swing", originally released on the first Dire Straitsīs album, "Dire Straits" (1979). The two guitar solos that he plays in this songs seems to be almost perfectly built, nobody can do that loke he does. It is known that he wrote it in his little apartment of London when he was living with her brother, and it was one of their first success.
• I also love "Romeo and Juliet", the version they recorded live when they were preparing "On the night" is one of the prettiest songs I have ever heard.
• "Tunnel of love". No words are needed. The guitar talks by itself.
• They are not just a guitarrist band, they play the saxophone perfectly at "Your latest trick".
• Another marvellous riff is in "On every street" , another great example of their capacities for the good music.

Eric Clapton

Heīs simply a genius. Noboy plays the blues like he does. What can I say of a man whose name appeared at Londonīs walls saying: "Clapton is God"?. The album I like most is the "Unplugged", performed and recorded live at the MTV. Songs like "Layla", "Nobody knows you when you are down & out" or "Tears in heaven" and its sad story are just... perfect. I also like very very much "Wonderful Tonight."

Other groups and songs

My favourite spanish group is Mecano,they are J.M. Cano, Nacho Cano and Ana Torroja. Their great albums were almost the soundtrack of my 14-15-16 years, and songs like "Me cuesta tanto olvidarte" (from "Entre el cielo y el suelo") or "Hijo de la luna" will be always in my mind. Iīm looking forward to hear their new album , probably at Christmas.

Last CD I have bought are:

• "The moment", by Kenny G. Nice and relaxating CD.
• "Stripped", by Mick Jager, Keith Richard, Charlie Watts and so on... in three words, , The Rolling Stones. "Street fighting man", "Like a rolling stone", "Wild Horses", "Angie"....
• "Gipsy Boogie", by The Vargas Blues Band (Javier Vargas and Raimundo Amador at the electric/acoustic and spanish guitars). He had made a nice version of John Lee Hokerīs song "Chill Out" (Sácalo)
• "Dance into the light", by the ex-Genesis Phil Collins. Itīs ok, it includes a version of the well-know Bod Dylanīs theme "The times they are a changing."
• "The Healing Game", by Van Morrison. What can I say of Van Morrison?. I highly recommend it to you.

Another lovely tracks that I always liked are "Eternal Flame", performed by Bangles; "Dust in the wind", by Kansas,"Have you ever seen the rain" by Creedence Clearwater Revival, "More than Words" by Extreme (thanks, Miriam, for that), "Give a litle bit" from Supertramp, "Hotel California" by the Eagles (I highly recommend to you the live version at "Hell freezes over", it takes almost 9 minutes of glory!)and one of my favourite themes, "Wind of Change", a romantic ballad from Scorpions. As you have probably noticed, I have more than a favourite song! :-)

I suppose you have guessed I like the guitar. Of course, you are right. Iīm not very good at this, and I will not probably became a rock star, but I enjoy play the guitar with my friends.
