Well, the police car is no more.  Someone decided to torch my moms 1995 Impala SS (in her driveway, might I add), so I used the cop car to fix the Impala (Capala, if you like).  The exterior is mostly Impala (except for deck lid, rims / tires, wheel well moldings and bumper moldings) but the rest of it is genuine Impala SS.  The interior had to be removed (smoke damage), it's blue 9C1 interior now (I replaced the carpet, headliner, FRT / RR seat covers, dash pad, sill plates and most of the interior plastic pieces with new GM ones).  I have the non floor shift console (new in the GM box), I just need to get it changed over to blue...  Clockwise from upper left, rear shot, front under hood shot showing outside damage.  Second row, left shows engine after parts were swapped from the 9C1, second row right shows new sheet metal jammed and hung on car (ready for paint).  Third row middle shows car right after painting was completed (not bad, eh?).  If you look closely at the lower RH of the windshield you can see smoke damage on it (right in front of the speedo cluster 'hump').  I have a GM new set of rims for it, I'm going to install them this summer (when I have the time / money).

Now, I have some proof of my labor.  Below is a chart that show rear wheel horsepower with only the camshaft change (well, K&N air filter, home plate delete also), stock PCM and exhaust.  This run started out in second gear and then the trans shifted into third gear (1:1 ratio), thus the spike at about 85 MPH and the high speeds recorded.

Well, I'm kind of disappointed.  I've added the ZZ4 cam, a Vigilante torque converter and an Ed Wright PCM.  Then I had the car re-dynoed and it showed no improvement?!?  I think there is something that I'm overlooking but the jury is still out on that one...  The green line with the "squiggle" in it is the original run, I'll have to wait and see what I find out...

Here is some more information that's even stranger.  We found out the new cam (and all the subsequent cams) were advanced 14 degrees (yes, fourteen degrees).  The gears checked out ok, so I can only assume it's a keyway error on the crank.  This put my new ZZ4 cam on a 98 intake lobe centerline, which couldn't be good for performance.  I degreed in the cam, backed it off 8 so now at least the intake centerline is 106.5, it's only advanced 6 degrees versus the previous 14.  Re-dynoed the car and AGAIN same power (the green lines).  I re-installed the stock computer, ran it again (the red lines), again, same power.  The stock cam / computer are the blue lines, FYI.  The last run I had a pressure gauge hooked up to the exhaust manifold and it topped out at a whopping 9 psi!  So I think I need to address either some new converters (mine have 196k on them) and possibly a cat back exhaust system.  Will re-dyno and re-post with new data after more mods are made.  Stay tuned!
