 李泰良 |
Li Tailiang (李泰良) was born in Shanxi Province and spent much of his later life in Beijing. He teaches five styles of Chinese martial arts: Che style Xingyiquan (車派形意拳),
Baguazhang (八卦掌), Taijiquan (太極拳), Shaolinquan (少林拳), and sometimes Dai family Xinyiquan (戴氏心意拳).
Che style Xingyiquan (車派形意拳)
He originally learned Che style Xingyiquan (車派形意拳) from his father, Li Shiquan, and later from his father's teacher Bu Xuekuan (布學寬), disciple
of Che Yizhai (車毅齋), Li Luoneng's (李洛能) first disciple.
Che style Xingyiquan is compact, soft, and agile. Like the more familiar Hebei styles of Xingyiquan, Che style also relies on Santishi (三體式)
training, but unlike Hebei styles do not practice for hours at a time - shorter training times of 20 minutes or so is enough, to keep one's movement agile
and lively. Che style also includes many movements not found in other Xingyiquan styles, like Tishuishi (提水勢), and Che style as passed on by Bu Xuekuan
also includes special movements, like mandarin duck kicks (鴛鴦腿) and Shitunshou (獅吞手).
Dai family Xinyiquan (戴氏心意拳)
Later he learned Dai family Xinyiquan from Wang Yinghai (王映海), his mother's relative and oldest living exponent of this long-secret art.
Wang Yinghai learned Xinyiquan from the last Dai family inheritor of the art, Dai Kui (戴魁). Xingyiquan arose from Dai family Xinyiquan, as Dai Kui's
great-great grandfather Dai Longbang (戴龍邦) was the one who taught Xinyiquan to Li Luoneng, but the art looks and is used completely differently.
Instead of Santishi, the undulating Dantiangong (丹田功) is used to train the Dantian and internal energy. The Dai style is very close and compact,
using many shoulder strikes (靠) and looking in some ways like Xinyiliuhequan (心意六合拳), as passed down by the Hui (回族) minority in China.
Cheng style Baguazhang (程派八卦掌)
He also learned Baguazhang from several masters, including Yang Mingshan's (楊明山) disciple, the late Wang Rongtang (王榮堂) of Beijing.
Yang Mingshan was Cheng Tinghua's (程廷華) nephew and disciple, and was able to learn the pure skills of this art. Wang Rongtang's baguazhang
is known for its combat effectiveness.
Li Tailiang teaches in 102-44 43 Ave., Corona NY 11368 (Queens), as well as in Long Island and Watchung Hills Regional High School 108
Stirling Road, Warren Township NJ throughout the week.
He also has arranged training trips to China featuring masters like Yang Zhenduo (楊鎮鐸), Bu Bingquan (布秉全), Wang Yinghai (王映海),
Wang Zhongyong (王忠勇), and others, teaching Taijiquan, Che style Xingyiquan, Dai family Xinyiquan, Baguazhang, and Shaolinquan.

 王仁剛表演伏虎樁 |
Wang Rengang (王仁剛) was born in 1965.5.7 in Liaoning Province. He teaches three styles of Chinese martial arts: Dachengquan (大成拳),
Xingyiquan (形意拳), and Tanglangquan (螳螂拳).
Hao style Taiji Plum Flower Praying Mantis (郝氏太極梅花螳螂拳)
He first learned the famous Hao family style of Taiji Plum Flower Praying Mantis in Liaoning Province under Wang Yue and Wang Yue's
teacher Hao Weizhi son of Hao Bin (郝斌) son of Hao Henglu (郝恆禄) son of Hao Lianru (郝蓮如).
The Hao family Praying Mantis style is famous for integrating both the Taiji and Seven Star (七星) styles together;
it is also known for its powerful two-handed long sword (柳葉劈刺雙把螳螂劍). Hand forms include Bengbu (崩步), Zhaiyao (摘要),
Bazhou (八肘), and Mishou (秘手).
Dachengquan (大成拳)
He later learned Dachengquan (another name for Yiquan (意拳)) from Wang Xuanjie (王選傑), a famous Dachengquan expert. Dachengquan is a
'formless style' descended from Guo Yunshen's (郭雲深) Xingyiquan. It is formless
in that there are no forms, but only standing exercises (站樁), force testing exercises (試力), moving exercises (步法), and single techniques (單操).
Single techniques are simple, but powerful, and include Sanquan (三拳) and Wuxing (五行). By learning Dachengquan,
Wang Rengang was able to fully improve his praying mantis and give it an explosive power. Dachengquan is well known for its great 'internal'
power, and standing methods. Some of the standing methods include Hunyuanzhuang (渾圓樁), Fuhuzhuang (伏虎樁), and Jianglongzhuang (降龍樁).
Wang Rengang teaches at his home in 98-12 Astoria Blvd, East Elmhurst, NY on Mondays and Thurdays, and on 435 Broome Street on Saturdays.
He also sometimes has seminars featuring himself, or Hao style praying mantis masters like Sun Deyao (孫德堯) and Sun Delong (孫德龍), grandchildren
of Hao Henglu, who learned from their uncle Hao Bin (郝斌), father of Wang Rengang's master Hao Weizhi.
