These are the basic eight stances that are first trained in the Luo Guangyu (羅光玉) branch of Seven Star Praying Mantis (七星蟷螂拳). Particular to the Seven Star style are the Ruhuanshi 'Enter Ring Stance' and the Qixingshi 'Seven Star Stance'. The last ninth stance, which has no name and is not included in the eight stances is nevertheless an important stance in Seven Star Praying Mantis.
