The Witch of Avonlea

Peg Bowen became known as "The Witch of Avonlea." A title she never tried to refute, as a matter of fact, she even did things to encourage this perception-at least among those she didn't like. Here are some spells and such from Peg.

"Eye of newt, toe of frog, wool of bat, and tongue of dog." Peg to Felix when he asks what she is cooking in "The Witch of Avonlea."

"The one who possesses [the magic chrystal] fears nothing, not a raging river, not a wild beast, not even Hetty King the school teacher. I give you this magic chrystal Felix King, age 11, with it you will be able to spell any word ever invented in the known universe and beyond." Peg to Felix in "The Witch of Avonlea."

"There's no magic more powerful than the magic of you believing in yourself." Peg to Felix in "The Witch of Avonlea."

"Spring water, boiled with cats' tails, angel seeds to ward off the evil spirits, elm sack sprinkled with the pollen of butterfly wings." Peg's love potion for Jasper and Olivia in "May the Best Man Win." Later she adds powdered mouse bones as a missing ingredient when Felix (through a couple of mishaps) thinks he is betrothed to Sarah and Olivia.
