Autumn: After the Rain
(November 12, 2000)

Slowly, gently,
Wee brown 'copters descend.
Scarcely a ripple
On their watery beds.

Above them,
On stark branches
Empty nests of yesteryear
Hold anxiously their breaths.

Crystal droplets shiver
Coax with Autumn breeze
Wayward leaves to the fiery carpet
Slick black ground beneath.
