Skiing
(March 13, 1996)

Flying down a steep mountain,
  I felt like an eagle--
So light, so swift, so carefree.
  Borne by the wind,
I flung myself upon
  The looming hills below.
With every trouble forgotten,
I felt the wind blow back my hair,
The scraping of snow against my skies,
  The bumps that threaten to
Throw me off-course.
  I will always cherish
The surge of freedom
  That comes from plunging
Into the depths of a mountain
  On a warm Winter Day.
