Campaign Objectives

This campaign was introduced in 1993 with the aims of making Malta greener, increasing the awareness of the necessity of trees in the Maltese Islands, and condemning vandalism against trees.

 It consists of planting a tree for every baby born.
 The tree bears the name of the child so when the child grows up it will identify with the tree and ensure that it is looked after.

 

 

 Over the years are number of councils planted trees for every baby born. For example in 1994 and 1995 10 local councils participated by planting a tree for every baby born.

As from the year 2001 this campaign will be given a boost by ECO who will assist interested councils to plant trees in selected area/s.
