ECOlogical Generation Award

The first ECOlogical Generation Award was launched and organized in 1998. Ernst Vella, Nixxiegha Kulturali Mellieha won the award presented by the parliamentary secretary for youths for the work he did on a local level. This activity awards Maltese persons who take up environmental initiatives.


In 1999 the second edition of the ECOlogical Generation Award was organized. In 1999 the Award included two sections (and prizes) one for Primary and Secondary students and the other for youths. Once again the independent adjudicating committee in the adult section chose a member of the Nixxiegha Kulturali Mellieha. A student was awarded the section for primary schools. A prize, the ECOlogical Generation Award was also awarded to the most active school.

In the year 2000 the ECOLOGICAL GENERATION AWARD which included three prizes, one for Primary and Secondary School Students, and a third for the public in General. This activity awards students/adults who take up environmental initiatives. The year 2000 winners were TV presenters Andrea Cassar and Moira Bonello, as well as environmentalists Andy and Julie Ann Grech and Dieudonee Farrugia. The ECO schools Award was won by the Carlo Diacono Gulia Junior Lyceum, Zejtun.
