Todd's Poem

Who is listening to Mothers anguished cries?
Who sheds a tear for each species that dies?
Where is there to turn when everywhere there is a road?
When the rivers are dammed, the trees are cut down, and the soil, it all erodes?
Who controls the masses? Their minds are not their own.

Dulled by consumer culture, lulled by the Deity of TV, not allowed to breath; Freedom, it is condoned.
The circle of life, we have cut the sacred thread.
Unravelling is the circle with each creature dead.
It is so overwhelming, happening so fast.

We have lost our connection, the life-link to our past.
The gift of life - a birthright to all.
Look at us humans; how far must We fall?
These laments, they burden my soul.
How sad I am, when all I want is to be whole.

But we can do it! I know it can be done.
All of life on this planet, please come together as one.
A glimpse of the future, standing on the edge:
Forests in the distance, rivers running free, life aplenty, and us on a mountainside ledge.

Taking it all in, humble in our place.
Working together to reclaim the Planet’s Grace.
Once again, the eagles will soar, screaming their primal cry.
To this end, Mother, I will try.
Mother, I will try!

Once you raise your head, you see: there are no limitations.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtfull, commited citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.
