Annual Military Inspection Practices

  • The AMI practices will occur on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 4-5, during periods 4-5. You MUST show up to these practices so you would know what to expect on Thursday, December 6, which is the date of AMI. You will muster on the blacktop in front of the Boys PE Office both 4th and 5th Periods.
02 December 2007

Team Practices

  • Since the GREATER LA FIELD MEET is coming up, all drill team practices will be mandatory and will go from 1530-1730. If you are unable to attend practice, make sure you let the team commander know! They cannot run a full practice without a full team. We want this year's teams to be better than last, so please do attend these practices.

Important!

  • Remember, your Support-A-Cadet-Letters are due on TUESDAY, Oct. 16th. Make sure you turn them in on time.
  • As you all know, Community Service is a very large part of the JROTC program. Community Service can be the one factor that can determine whether we continue our amazing streak of being distinguished unit or not. So, I found a great way to get involved. The UCLA Blood and Platelet Center is needing many donations. So if you head down to the center and give Whole Blood, you get 40 HOURS of Community Service, and if you give Platelets, you get 80. You have to be 16 with a parent and over 110 pounds to donate.
11 October 2007
Remember!

  • If you are in performing in Armed, Unarmed, and Color-Guard in the Greatful Hearts event, make sure you get the field trip signed by period 3-6 teachers. The last day to turn it in is on Tuesday, Oct. 16th.
  • Troy Athletic field meet is on Saturday, Oct. 20th. Make sure to get those field trip slips ASAP. Now, in order to be competitive, we need as many cadets as we possibly can get. Make sure you sign up for the events before the meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 17th.

Some Going-Ons

Below are some of the upcoming events that cadets should be prepared for:

  • On October 5th, Jesse Balmer is graduating from the Marine Corps. I'm sure he would feel very appriciated if you show up on this day.
  • On October 20th, we are competing in the Troy Athletic Field Meet. You would only compete in what you signed up for.
  • The Greater LA Field Meet is on November 17. Make sure you study hard, practice well, and go over your knowledge (go to competitors must know) so we can do as well as last year.
  • The Firefighting school field trip will take place on November 29th. It is an amazing experience, so this is one field trip to look forward to.
  • The Annual Military Inspection (AMI) is on December 6. In this event, the Area 11 Manager will come and inspect the unit, and all it's departments. It is incredibly early this year, so platoon commanders, work on drill and knowledge.
  • The La Habra Field Meet will take place on December 8. It is right after AMI so the drill teams have a lot of work to do. Remember, go to competitors must know for information on what you need to know for Personnel Inspection.
  • The C-130 Flight will take place on March 6. In this field trip, you get to take part of a real C-130 flight. All field trips are on a first come first serve basis.
  • The NJROTC Mini Boot Camp is during Spring Break. MBC is just a small part of what real military recruits go through. You get to meet cadets from other schools that will be in your company, and of course- compete! The companies will compete against one another in a number of fields. It is a fun experience, try it out.
  • Damage Control is another fun field trip. It will occur on April 24th, and is on a first come first serve basis.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back, returning cadets! And hello to all of you who decided to join us this year! It's going to be a great year.

Some general goings on:
  • If you plan to put in positions, memos are due TOMORROW (Friday, 7 September).
  • Uniforms will be issued next week. If you are a returning cadet and you need to exchange a uniform item, bring it in so that we can exchange the item. If you've lost the item, be prepared to pay for a replacement.
  • If any upperclassmen still have Khakis, they are due back MONDAY.
  • Team practices started today (Armed, Unarmed, Color Guard). PT Team practices will start on Wednesday, 12 September, and Academic Team practices will start the following week, Wednesday, 19 September. Join a team! It'll help you get involved in the unit and get to know people, plus you'll get to go to competitions and have a lot of fun. Check the Team section of the website for details on teams and practice days/times.

Good luck, everyone!
