Traladarans

The majority of people in Karameikos are Traladarans (roughly 60%). These are decended from the Traldar tribes of legend. They tend to avarage 5'6" in height, have pale complections and brown hair and dark eyes. The like dressing in bright and flamboyant outfits, though some model themselves more on Thyatian fashions. They are a very superstitious people, in touch with their beliefs in spirits and demons. Much of them are illiterate (excepting members of the clergy or noble houses). Due to the invasion of the Thyatians most of them speak Thyatian well enough, though a few in remote vilages tend to speak the ancient Traldar tounge. They tend to worship the gods Halav, Petra and Zirchev.

Thyatians

The ruling class in Karameikos is made up mainly of Thyatian land owners. They make up about 30% of the population. They tend to average 5'11" in height. Due to the empires widespread mixing, there is no one Thyatian look, and they range from blondes to brunnetes. Some are very preduiced against the Traladaran's and some are anoyed at the former King Halav abdicating first from the Empire and then from the Throne. Many landowners fear their power will be stripped away by this new leader.

Others

The rest of the population is made up from Elves, Gnomes, Dwarves and the occasionaly Hin.

Elves

The elves are of the Callarii tribe, and consider themselves seperate from the elves of Alfheim, with who they cut ties with long ago. They are typically 6' tall and have pale hair and eyes and typically wear robes of green leaves. They are boat handelers and the keepers of the forests. They have pledged their support to the old King in the treaty of leaves. The treaty gives them the right to rule the forests and the waterways of Karameikos. In return they provide a unit of elite troops to serve the King. What will happen with the elves and the new government remains to be seen.

Gnomes and Dwarves.

The dwarven community of Highforge was founded by the Stronghollow clan. Within the last two hundred years it has accepted Gnomes outcasts to the extent that they now almost outnumber the Dwarves. They are hardy miners working in the Iron mines. The gnomes organise a caravan around the country once a year, bringing a carnival with them.

Others

Hin are common along the border of the Five Shires and in the larger cities, but other races are rare. Half elves and such are rare in these times of peace, normally only being children of war.
