THE CHRIST CENTERED ROSARY

A short prayer centered on our Lord Jesus Christ to be prayed on ordinary rosary beads.

THE CROSS

Grasp the Cross, make the sign of the cross and pray: In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

Grasp the first single bead and pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, now and for ever. Amen.

GLORY BE BEADS

Grasp each of the three closely spaced beads in order and pray:
Glory be to the Father
Glory be to the Son
Glory be to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

ANGELIC SALUTATION

Grasp the single small bead and pray: Hail, Mother of God, Virgin Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb; for you gave birth to Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of our souls.

First Event: The Incarnation

Grasp the first large bead, announce: "The Incarnation", pray: The Lord's Prayer. Meditate on the Incarnation as you pray on each of the ten small beads: For God so loved the world he sent his only son... (Some suggestions: Think about Jesus "who didn't grasp equality with God the Father but lowered himself, taking on the form of a slave." Think about God's plan for our salvation depending on Mary saying "yes" to God's plan for her life. Think about how one would expect the King of the Universe, God Incarnate to be born in a palace or at least the finest lodging, not a borrowed stable.)

Second Event: Jesus' Ministry

Grasp the second large bead, announce: "Jesus' Ministry", pray: The Lord's Prayer. Meditate on Jesus' Ministry as you pray on each of the ten small beads: This is my commandment that you love one another... (Some suggestions: Think about how many times Jesus surprised people by who He ministered to: "let the children come to me", "I come to call sinners." Think about the faith responses that Jesus evokes: "only say the word and my servant will be healed", "if I have cheated anyone I repay him four-fold." Think about all the miracles "your faith has healed you", "even the wind and waves obey Him!")

Third Event: The Cross

Grasp the third large bead, announce: "The Cross", pray: The Lord's Prayer. Meditate on the sufferings and death of our Lord as you pray on each of the ten small beads: For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (Some suggestions: Think about the steps to the Cross: abandoned, condemned, scourged, mocked, paraded under the crushing weight , stripped, nailed, taunted, suffering. Think about Jesus' words from the Cross: "forgive them they know not what they are doing", "you will be with me today in paradise", "Mother, there is your son. Son, there is your mother.", "it is finished.")

Fourth Event: The Resurrection

Grasp the fourth large bead, announce: "The Resurrection", pray: The Lord's Prayer. Meditate on our Lord conquering death and rising to new life as you pray on each of the ten small beads: Alleluia, He is risen! (Some suggestions: Think about the fact that Christ is so much more than simply a martyr. Think about our risen Lord's words:"Shalom-Peace be with you.", "Do not doubt", "Do you love me?", "Go and make disciples of the nations." Think about God, sending His only Son to pay the price for the redemption of the world.)

Fifth Event: The Ascension

Grasp the fifth large bead, announce: "The Ascension", pray: The Lord's Prayer. Meditate on our Lord's ascension into heaven, from where he intercedes for us and from where he will come again, as you pray on each of the ten small beads: Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. (Some suggestions: Think about Our Lord, who knows our temptations and sufferings, interceding for us, bringing our prayers to God the Father, "not wishing that any be lost." Think about Jesus' words: "It is better that I go that the Father may send the Holy Spirit")

Doxology

Conclude by grasping the medal and pray: Glory to God in the Highest and peace to His people on earth! Lord God, Heavenly King, Almighty God and Father, we worship you, we give you thanks we praise You for Your glory. Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world have mercy on us. You are seated at the right hand of the Father, receive our prayer. For You alone are Holy One, You alone are the Lord, You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in the glory of God the Father. Amen. Alleluia.
