Lifelong area resident

William M. Ott, 77, of Upper Deerfield died Monday in Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden.

The husband of Mary Belle (nee Williams) Ott, he was born in Bridgeton and was a lifelong area resident. He lived in Upper Deerfield Township on his family's homestead all of his life. He was the son of the late Frank and Estella Ackley Ott.

He worked for several years at Seabrook Farms and later for 25 years as a salesman of irrigation equipment for Foster's Farm Equipment on Route 40 near Elmer and their successor, Pole Tavern Equipment Co.

Prior to retirement, he worked in a similar capacity for three years at Farm Rite in Shiloh.

He was a member and former trustee of the Deerfield Presbyterian Church and was a longtime member of Seabrook Volunteer Fire Co. No.2 in Seabrook.

An avid hunter, he was a 55-year member of the Tri-County Gun Club. He was also both a salt and fresh water fisherman and enjoyed working in his vegetable garden.

A 1941 graduate of Bridgeton High School, he was a member of the school's basketball team.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by one daughter, Beverly S. Tyler of Cape May Court House; one son, James L. Ott of Upper Deerfield Township; one brother, Harold Ackley Ott of Upper Deerfield Township; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce, Bridgeton with the Rev. Randall Otto of Deerfield Presbyterian Church officiating.

Interment will be in Deerfield Presbyterian Cemetery.

Friends may call the funeral home between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Friday.
