14.1 Fuel Level Indicator

Owners have reported that the fuel level indicator does not read 100% full after fueling.

No fixes for this problem have been reported yet.
(My dealer will look at mine at my 5000 checkup.)

14.2 Seat Rattles

Owners have reported rattling from behind the seats.

This normally is due to the seats not being installed properly.
It is very simple for the dealer to remove the seat and properly re-install it.
Other possible causes include:
CD Changer Door not closed properly.
Rear seat release lever not closed.

14.3 Crystal patterns on Headlight glass

Owners have reported crystal patterns forming on the inside of the headlight glass.

This problem may or may not go away with heat from the headlights.
Also, from "Mr. Smile" on the Audi-tt forum comes this advice ...
The much-discussed "crystals" in the TT's headlights are (according to a source from Bosch, the manufacturer of the light system) tiny particles of dirt. These particles are loaded electrostaticly, thus clinging to the front of the lights. This problem can not be solved by changing the headlights, the engineers at Bosch are working to find a solution for this.

14.4 Automatic Car washes

The wheels protrude outside the body of the vehicle by approximately one half inch.
Driving through an automatic car wash car scrape the edge of the wheels.
Also, the car phone antanna is rigidly attached to the roof of the vehicle.
Automatic car washes could catch on the antanna and bend the roof.
Please, take the extra 15 minutes, and wash your car by hand!

14 .5 Instrument Cluster

My instrument cluster finally went haywire. First the left directional went into a rapid blink (no indicator lights out however). Now I'm into intermittant CD changer display on the computer read out. Worst is the lazy tachometer. Sometimes it works, sometimes it hangs, sometimes...well who knows. Central lock button still does not unlock at times. Auto alarm arming still broken also. Cruise control still hunting. Problems are piling up, but nothing that has me on the side of the road yet. I'm #1349. -Peter Ryckaert

14.6 Transmission

The following are taken directly from the audi-tt.org forum:
  • At 698 miles, shifting from 2 to 3, a loud bang and a shudder. The short of it is that 3rd is gone. Having xmission failures in past on my S90, felt & sounded like syncro. Dropped at dealer today. No doubt this will be first TT they will do any major work on. Probably will need to get parts from Germany.
    • Lucky you. I lost every gear. My entire transmission is being replaced. The parts are here in the US.
    • Audi is replacing the entire transmission and it is taking about 9 days. However, they are refunding me a month's lease payment.
  • Reverse, First & Second gear seems to be really notchy and sometimes first & reverse gears do not engage without multiple attempts.
    • I had the notchy shifting but it is smooth now , 2000 miles took care of the problem

14.7 Clutch

The following is taken directly from the audi-tt.org forum:
  • Well, last time I mentioned that my TT had a clutch problem associated with the clutch slave cylinder. Audi replaced that part and test drove the car. After the test drive, Audi has now decided to replace the entire transmission as my original problem was not any better. 1700 miles with a new transmission....I do not have a warm fuzzy feeling, and I have had not had my car for a week and it is possible that I won't for another week. Maybe the people at 1-800-555-waah will understand. :)

p.s. I still love the car.

14.8 Turbo

The following is taken directly from the audi-tt.org forum:
  • Well I'm back at the office in downtown Chicago after a very ruff Monday. The bad news is I was up till 1:30AM helping my girl friend move. The worse news is the TT appears to have cooked it's turbo and is at the shop. I was running the car up to red line in third; backed off and then lost ALL power. The car would run, idled ok, was not over heating and there where no warning lights on. However any throtle caused a hideous screeching sound, and again, no power. I limped into the dealer and left the car last night. My quess is a bad bearing or broken impeller shaft in the turbo charger. We will see, the dealer should be calling this morning so I will let you know. The one comment I have is that the 1.8t motor is not a new item nor is the Ko3 turbo charger, I also believe these motors have a good reliability record. But I don't need to tell you I am not a happy camper, I'm not use to paying $35,000 for a car and haveing a major component failure inside of 2000 miles. Well lets wait and see what happens next. JIM
  • If you read my earlier post (above) you know its looking like my turbo charger is history. Got a call form the service manager, he said they will not get to the car today but they agree it sounds like the turbo is the problem, they will look at the car in the morning to confirm. They said there may be a problem with parts because the Ko3 TT turbo is not the same as the A4s Ko3. So I will have a better picture tomorrow and will let you know what happens next. BUMMER
