小弟有一個問題想請教各位前輩,如果手上的錢只能選擇這兩種酒其中一種,
CH. d'Yquem 1990 or Maximin Gruenhaeuser Abtsberg
TBA, Schubert 1995 尤其兩者價錢相仿!
應該如何來決定呢?

若是送禮,買Ch. d'Yquem 1990,若是買給自己,別傻了,當然是
von Schubert的1995 TBA!
一、此酒不是每年都做,1995 TBA只做了20箱,而Ch.
d'Yquem 1990則超過18000箱
二、買這種等級的酒絕非因為"它很好喝"而買,多半是為了特殊場合或是為了增加品嚐經驗,因此雖然Wine
Spectator只給 von Schuber 1995 TBA 89分(Ch.
d'Yquem 1990為97分),但前者實在比後者珍貴太多了

TBA的選擇最重要的依序為: 葡萄品種、酒廠、葡萄園、年份,與其它國家的白酒大不相同;以蘇岱區、勃根地或盧瓦河谷的白酒為例,年份的影響就非常重要,但在德國由於爛年份根本做不出TBA,再加上TBA屬於精釀型態的酒,因此年份的好壞雖或許有一些影響,但卻是最不重要的因素;但同樣是德國酒,年份對Kabinett,
Spatlese這些中級酒反而重要得多。
我個人認為既然喝TBA,當然要選擇Riesling!因為地理氣候環境的緣故,德國的Riesling
TBA兼具平衡的酸甜度與複雜的水果味,且具有極長的陳年實力,尤其成熟後真是風情萬種,但其它品種如Ortega,
Chardonnay, Huxelrebe, Muskatell, Scheurebe,
Silvane, Weissburgunde所做出來的TBA,往往要比Riesling
TBA的風味差一大截。
你所喝的那款TBA就不是Riesling,而是Ortega做的,葡萄園Kirchenstuck也不是太有名,酒廠你未註明,但應也是普通酒廠,雖然1988是個頗好的年份,但酒質我想應是符合Ortega的特性:甜蜜有餘,風味不足。如果有人喜歡這種甜蜜蜜的滋味,不必花NT$1600,只要去好市多花NT$888就可以買到500cc的Ortega
TBA。
再回來談這支von Schubert Riesling TBA吧。國內陳新民教授所編譯的"世界百大葡萄酒"頗為暢銷,其實內容的百大名單絕大部份取材自"Edle Tropfen",而這支von
Schubert Riesling TBA在"Edle Tropfen"一書的百大名單中排名第九,但在陳新民教授的"世界百大葡萄酒"書中卻付之闕如,我想以陳教授旅居德國多年,不可能不知道von
Schubert酒廠之地位,因此應該是根本找不到這支TBA,無法在書中印製酒標圖片,故只好予以割愛;由此更可知道此酒的稀罕與珍貴!

I was lucky to find a few bottles of the '98
here in the US. Do they look gorgeous? Sorry to
disappoint you, they look almost the same as the
much more affordable Kabinett or Spatlese from
the same producer. Only the lable on the neck
saying Trockenbeerenauslese stands out a little
bit -- typical German under-statement, I guess.
As for staring at it... YES, it does generate
emotions and prompt me to open and drink it up.
Needs a lot of self-control to supress the urge,
for sure. To drink it now seems like a crime
since it may take >20 years to fully mature.
For your information, '98 was unusal in that
von Schubert produced wines at the BA, Eiswein
and TBA levels in the same year. More amazingly,
both of the more famous vineyards, Herrenberg and
Abtsberg produced Eisweine.

The von Schubert TBA is much more difficult to
find, for sure. If I see a bottle, I'll go for it
without second thoughts. The production is so
small, a few years from now you won't be able to
find one even if you have the money.
If you miss the Yquem, safe to say that you
can pay a bit more later to find a bottle.
