Alured is the English form of the Aluredus, a medieval Latin form of the name Alfred. Alfred comes from Aelfraed, an Old English name which meant “Elf Advice,” “With Elf Wisdom,” “Good Counsel,” or “All Peace,” from “aelf” (elf), and “raed” (advice, counsel), or “fried” (peace).

History:
Alured was coined in the 18th century as a more “learned” form of the name Alfred, based on the “proper” Latin form of Aluredus.
