Arturo
Gender: Masculine
Language: Spanish, Italian, Latin
Etymology:
Arturo is the Spanish form of Arthur, a very famous name with a very unclear origin. One theory states that Arthur is a form of an old Roman name, Artorius. Another claims it comes from a Celtic name, Artair, which meant bear or Strong as a Bear. Or it could be from the Germanic name which meant Eagle Thor from arth (eagle) and Thor, the gold of Thunder (Arth-Thor).
History:
Arturo was not really present in the United States until the late 19th century. It was introduced by Italian and Spanish speaking immigrants and their children.
