Brandi

Gender: Feminine
Language
: English
Etymology:
Brandi is a modern name, apparently coined in 1972 by the band Looking Glass. If it referred to the alcoholic drink, Brandy is a shortened form of Brandy-Wine, from a Dutch word “branden” (to burn) and “wine.”

History:
Brandy (and Brandi) first rose to prominence with a song entitled “Brandy (You're A Fine Girl )” by the band Looking Glass in 1972, about a bartender called Brandy. Apparently the Brandy of the song had a real-life counterpart, a girl with a similar name, that one band member had once known.

Please see Brandy for additional information.
