Constantine

: English
Etymology:
Constantine is and English form of the Latin name Constantinus, from Constantius, meaning “Steady.”

History:
Constantine, being the name of the first Christian Roman Emperor, was a popular early Christian name, especially in the Eastern Orthodox Church (i.e. in Greece, Russia).
It was also the name of several early Scottish kings, which led to the name becoming common from the 12th to 17th centuries (often spelled Costin). The variant form

Constant was fairly popular among the Puritans, who favored qualities-as-names (like Faith, Hope, Charity, Mercy). After the 17th century, however, it declined in the English-speaking world.
