Corinne is the French form of a Greek name, Corinna, possibly derived from Cora, meaning “Maiden.”

History:
Corinna was a Greek name, the name of an early Grecian female poet.

It was revived by 17th poet Robert Herrick (1591-1674) in his poem "Corinna's Going A-Maying."

Another influence may have been the 1807 novel Corinne, or Italy by the French romantic novelist Madame de Staël (1766-1817). It was about a half-British, half-Italian woman who “dies of a broken heart.”
