Dulcibella is the Latin, modern form of a medieval name, Dowsabel, coined from Latin and meaning, roughly, “Sweet” from “dulcis” (sweet) and “bella” (beautiful).

History:
Dowsabel, Latinized as Dulcibella, was a name found in medieval England. It lasted until the 16th century. Dowsabel wa also a word meaning “Sweetheart.”

The more learned, Latinate form of Dulcibella was revived in the 18th century, but never made it to the 19th.
