Estrild is the modern form of an Old English name Eastorhild, or the old Germanic name Estrildis (or Austrechildis) from Eastre, the goddess of the dawn, and hild (battle).
History:
Estrild is a name from legend. It belonged to a German princess who became the mistress of King Locrin. She and her daughter (Sabrina) were drowned in the Severn river by the kings wife (Gwendolyn).
