Kristina is the Swedish form of Christiana, the feminine form of Christian, an English vocabulary word for someone belonging to the Christian religion.

Queen Kristina of Sweden (1626-1689) took the throne in 1632 and helped popularize the name in Scandinavia. It remains a favorite Swedish name.
