Por ello, que al escucharla muchos tendieron a vincularla como un tema dedicado a Sofía Vergara y Daisy Fuentes, las dos novias anteriores de Micky, quienes no se han cansado de decir que "aún queda el cariño de amigos". Con un estilo que resulta de una mezlca electrónica con hip hop, X-Girlfriend, es un tema completamente distinto a lo que anteriormente ha hecho Mariah y no sale mal parada de esta innovación. Superior -a mi parecer- a cortes como Did I Do That, How Much y Thank God I Found You, es una muestra de lo que MC puede realizar cuando tiene libertad creativa.
